Funded Research Projects

Current Research Projects:

  • REFRACT – Recycling of used refractories from various industries to produce Alumino-silicate refractories ceramics and masses (Description).

  • WE-TRANSFORM – Leveraging existing data and people’s expertise, WeTransform will create a cross-national living hub as a knowledge and action platform, offering a path forward for smarter decisions, more innovative and evidence-based policymaking, through accountable and informed governance.

  • CirOWa Cluster – The aim of the cluster is to strengthen the cooperation between companies for the systems development that will create value in the waste chain, on the one hand through the reduction of their management and processing costs and on the other hand through the application of circular economy practices.

  • UBWARMM – Storm Water Management Modelling for Greek Urban Blocks.
This research project concerns the development of an “architect friendly” computer-based model to facilitate the design, implementation and assessment of stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) in existing Greek urban blocks. The model will serve as a decision support tool for the architect by allowing the simulation of the impact on the microclimate of conventional and non-conventional stormwater management scenarios and its visualization in a 3D graphical modeler.
    Duration: 01/02/2022 – 31/01/2025
Funded through a competitive research grant (167,000 euros) provided by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI).
Research team member from UNIWA: Professor Ioannis Sibetheros, Dept. of Civil Engineering.
