Dr George Charonitis is a Civil Engineer and since 1996 holds a diploma from the National Technical University of Athens School of Civil Engineering (cycle for Transportation Engineering). In 2008 he also received a PhD in Engineering from the same school.
He has more than twenty (20) years of work and research experience on transportation infrastructure engineering (pavements, roads, railways and airports) with active participation in more than seventy (70) projects on the subject matter. His major research interests include road, and airport pavements, railway track beds, traffic and geotechnical engineering matters related with transportation infrastructure. He is also a visiting lecturer/teaching associate on the afore-mentioned topics at the University of West Attica, the Hellenic Air Force Academy, and the Hellenic School of Pedagogical and Technological Engineering.
He has been author or co-author of more than twenty (20) peer-reviewed research papers published in international and national scientific journals and conference proceedings, and he is also an active reviewer of international journals and conferences related to transportation infrastructure engineering.
